Girl Wading

*Wading Girl*, 27.5 by 24.5 by 1.5" 2025  painted on foam board rather than canvas. The foam board influences the painting unlike canvas, rigid and reflective. The girl is rendered in deep blues, marked by deliberate, rough brushstrokes and defined outlines that give it a stylized, almost otherworldly presence. Simplified forms, eyes and lips encompass her with one pronounced eye looking back at us while she stands in a current of water.
 
Yellows punctuates the background with green sprigs flanking her in a scene of transparencies where her distinct pose and coloration make her the visual anchor of the composition. Sourced from a work on paper of some time ago the painting achieves a curious evocative quality inviting pause and reflection.
